Brett Wallace is an artist and filmmaker exploring labor, technology, and the greater economy. In 2016, he launched AMAZING INDUSTRIES, part artwork, part research engine, to examine and explore Amazon's business model and its impact on the future for workers. His short film and media installation, Truckers (2020), explored how AI is reshaping the working conditions, economic provisions, and lives of America’s truck drivers. Brett is in production with American Union, a documentary filmed in Alabama over the last three years. The film documents the miners’ strike at Warrior Met Coal and the nearby Amazon union drive, presenting a timely intersectional angle between traditional and new labor activism. Reviews of his work include The New York Times, Brooklyn Rail, Art in America, ARTnews, Artnet, Artslant, Hyperallergic, and BmoreArt. Wallace holds a BFA from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst, an MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
